Local residents give first feedback on smokeless fuel developed by SUEK and used in their homes.
On 25 February 2019, Krasnoyarsk residents received free deliveries of 300kg of smokeless fuel per household as part of a joint environmental project between SUEK, the city administration and the Ministry of Environment of the Krasnoyarsk region. The pilot project involved residents of private houses in the Oktyabrsky, Zheleznodorozhny, Sverdlovsky and Central districts.
NIA-Krasnoyarsk presented the initial results of a feedback survey regarding the new fuel, conducted in the city centre with residents of private houses.
Lyudmila Ivanovna, a pensioner residing on Lineynaya Street, gave highly positive feedback about the smokeless fuel: “It leaves no smoke or smell. This is a definite advantage, since my boiler room is in the house.”
Emil, also a Lineynaya Street resident, has used the innovative fuel several times to heat his house. He commented: “It is supplied in convenient separate packages, the shape is also good, it comes in regular briquettes. Regarding temperature, ordinary coal seems to provide much more heat.”
Along with the free fuel, SUEK provided residents with leaflets containing recommendations on how to use the fuel efficiently, including how to light the briquettes and maintain a comfortable temperature.
Smokeless fuel is being widely discussed on television and online, and is being used by an increasing number of Krasnoyarsk citizens. NIA-Krasnoyarsk will continue gathering feedback from residents of private houses in Krasnoyarsk on SUEK’s smokeless fuel.
