SUEK increases half-year coal production

9 July 2015

Between January and June 2015, SUEK produced 46.5 million tonnes of coal, a 1% increase compared to the same period last year.

Sales volumes between January and June rose by 11 % year-on-year, to 49.1 million tonnes of coal.

Domestic sales volumes increased by 20%, driven by strong demand from Russian energy companies due to a fall in energy production from hydro-power plants. Russian consumers bought 26.3 million tonnes of coal, of which 21.6 million tonnes were supplied to electric power plants.

International sales volumes grew by 2% to 22.8 million tonnes of coal. The company’s key export markets include China, South Korea, Japan, the Netherlands, Taiwan, the UK and Germany.
