Thomas was appointed to the Board of Directors of SUEK in September 2018.
Thomas qualified as a Chartered Accountant in Arthur Andersen’s Corporate Tax practice in 1999. He spent the following sixteen years working as a private equity investor, first with Nomura, then Cazenove Private Equity and Barclays. Between 2003 and 2006 was a member of Barclays Capital’s large-capitalisation buyout business where successful deals included the take-private of Somerfield, the UK’s fifth-largest supermarket chain.
In 2006, Thomas was part of the team that founded Barclays Natural Resource Investments (BNRI), a private equity business investing in mining, power and oil & gas. He was responsible for many of BNRI’s oil & gas investments including Chrysaor (North Sea oil & gas), Third Energy (UK gas-focused business) and Natural Gas Partners (the premier North American investment franchise in the energy space).
Thomas started working with SUEK in 2016 when he was asked to become an advisor to the Chairman of the Board of Directors. In this role, he assisted SUEK on corporate strategy and evaluating international joint ventures and acquisitions.
Tom graduated with a Double First in Mathematics from St John’s College, Cambridge.
